A Day at NSD
A step-by-step guide

Welcome to NSD drag racing!
Whether you are a racer or a spectator.

Here is a run-down of how it works :

  1. Prepare - Before you come to NSD be prepared by bringing some essentials: sunglasses, earplugs, portable radio, sunscreen, hat, and money for entry and food. (No glass bottles allowed). Racers please check out our rule page. Check the web site or call to find out prices and times for the day you are attending. One more thing, rain and drag racing don't mix so check the web site or call if the weather looks iffy.

  2. The Entry Booth - Tell the attendant if you want to race(a pit entry) or watch only(a spectator entry). After you pay you will receive a entry ticket(keep it, we have drawings all the time). Racers will also receive 2 forms ( a tech card & a release form). Racers and Spectators must observe all signs and follow safety guidelines.

  3. Parking - Racers park in the Pits. Spectators park in the spectator parking.

  4. Spectators can walk over and visit the Pits look at the cars and talk to the racers(please take small children by the hand), get some food from the concession stand(The Filling Station), kids 12 and under can jump in the bounce house (it's FREE), find a great seat in the grand stands and enjoy the show!

Racers your not quite done yet lets continue with step 4.

  5. Forms - After you have found a pit space for your car. Fill out and sign your "Tech Card" and "Release of Liability" form.

  6. Listen to be called - Tune in your radio to 94.3 or listen to the PA for your class to be called to the staging lanes.

  7. Staging Lanes - Go to the staging lanes when called. The Tech Guy will take your filled out and signed forms and inspect your car. If you pass he will give you a number and write it on your window. Wait your turn in the staging lane.

  8. Burnout - Wait until a NSD crew member signals you to move up to the waterbox, drive about 2ft. passed the waterbox and start your burnout when you are signaled to do so, then move to the starting line.

  9. Starting Line - Pull up until the pre-stage light is lit, then slowly pull forward till stage light is lit. That is it, you are ready to rock and roll.

  10. Race - Wait till 3 amber lights count down to green. On green, not before, GO! Stay in your lane. As soon as you get to the finish lane let off the throttle so you have plenty of room to slow down. Beware of the other car you raced -usually the faster car(winner) turns to the return road first.

  11. Time Slip - At the end of the return road is the timing booth. Stop and get your timing slip and see how you did. Go back to your pit space.
  12. Now that you have done it. I know you want to do it again!!
